One important
feature of the mise-en-scene is the taxidermied animals, seen when Marian and
Norman enter the Parlour. The darkness and the dull weather connotates the
coldness and gloom of the Bates Motel. Furthermore, the taxidermy is a
reflection on Normans personality. It's an unusual hobby to take up, and to do
so with such animals takes skill and time showing that he has them both. This
also suggests Norman to be a dark and dangerous man and is capable of more more
dangerous activities, as he lures Marian into the Parlour, this suggests along
with the gloomy weather that she will be in trouble.

PRODUCTION DIARY: WEEK 8
This
week I have looked at magazine analysis looking at conventions, connotations
and genres in order to be able to analyse my own magazine. This has been useful
as it has made looking at images and texts easier so when it comes to choosing
my own it makes the decision clearer and helping to decipher hidden meanings. I
have also managed to take a couple pictures for my magazine.

FLATPLAN FOR FINAL MAGAZINE PRODUCTION
These are the first drafts of my Flatplan for my front cover and contents page. Although pleased with the outcome further development need to be made in order to produce a good magazine.
MISE-EN-SCENE IN MUSIC MAGAZINES

The lighting is balanced and does not make the writing or images used difficult to see. The font used is big and bold which makes it eye-catching for the audience to read. The clear texts make it easier for the readers to understand the whole theme of the magazine and what its about.
The mode of address for this image is direct and at a mid shot. This is effective as it instantly draws you in and grabs your attention and suits the cover. Also the styling of the magazine cover makes it clear who the selected target demographic is and instantly attracts them to read.
The anchorage "I'm bigger, better" fixes and relates to the meaning of the picture. Where in the image the model is bold and quite confident similarly to the caption. The enigma "want to be the next one claiming the crown?" is a question that is not immediately answered which creates interest for the audience.

The lighting used is quite dark as you can see shadows across the models face. Doing this is effective as it fits in with the whole idea of 'rap' as that is what the genre of the magazine is. He looks quite angry which reflects the whole image of the rap scene as it is usually seen as angry young men.
The setting of the cover has been added in, its of graffiti which again fits in with the whole rap genre. However the background looks quite over powering as you are more drawn into the background instead of the text on the cover
The anchorage "who would be the best" again like the cover above relates to the image as it uses non verbal communication as he is pointing at the audience as almost to ask them a question without using speech, the enigma also makes the readers more intrigued to find out more.
COLOUR SCHEME FOR MUSIC MAGAZINE
I have used the same colour cheme chart as I did in my preliminary task. This is because I am going to continue using the same colours but just develop it further, using primarily white for the colour of the text.

PRODUCTION DIARY: WEEK 7
This
week I looked closely at the results from my research and narrowed down what my
selected target demographic will be most interested in. From my results I found
that the genres I have chosen to focus on are appropriate for my audience and
their preferences. I will hopefully capture my images by the end of the week in
order to continue the development of my magazine.

SURVEYMONKEY
I used ‘Survey Monkey’ to conduct
my research in order to get specific results; my questionnaire informs me on
what needs to be added into my magazine. I found that there were 2/3 of females
who completed the questionnaire compared to males, which was 1/3.
As a result of the clear
demographic I have decided to make my magazine appeal to more females but not
completely disregard males. I found that the main target audience is aimed at
ages 17 to 21, which means that I am able to focus more on their likes. I found
that the main genre of magazines read is Fashion & Beauty (9/15), Music
(9/15), and sports which was (5/15). Subsequently this makes the content of the
magazine I will add in narrow down. I will focus on the age groups between 17
and 21 and include Sports, Fashion & Beauty, and Music, as it will appeal
to a both male and female audience.

TOOL KIT
Our task was to create a step by step guide on differemt ways to present our work. I used Photovisi and showed a step by step guide on how to use the programme, and if it worth using for our project. I found that it wasnt as useful as thought but is a nice idea.

PRODUCTION DIARY: WEEK 5
This week I collected and looked at the
results from my questionnaire I created for my music magazine. I have come to a
final decision for my demographic and content of the magazine. I found using
‘SurveyMonkey’ slightly difficult because in order to collect all results I
needed to upgrade the software, so I have to right it out by hand then put it
onto Edexcel.
