PRODUCTION DIARY: WEEK 24

This week I have finally finished my final production. I am very pleased with the outcome of my front cover, contents page and double page spread.  I think it suits my chosen target demographic. Although I am happy with the outcome I think my contents page needs a little more work, and hopefully will upload soon.

PRODUCTION DIARY: WEEK 23

This week I have looked VIBE magazine as it is the main magazine that I am comparing with. Looking closely at the conventions they use and how they lay out their images and text, I need to look again at my own and change some of the fonts, images and the colour scheme.

During this week I have completed the first draft of my front cover and contents page. Although I am happy there is room for much improvement. I do like the way the colour of the text and the colour of the background compliments each other.

This week I have prepared and created notes for my evaluation questions, looking at the different ways I can present each question. Powtoons and Voki are few of the ways I could present my questions.

After my mock and the completion of my research and planning I started to work on my final production again, I have finished the first draft of my front cover. It isn’t perfect and I do not feel this will be the final one, so I will look at my flat plans and other magazine for more inspiration.

PRODUCTION DIARY: WEEK 18

This week I have focused on my final production for my front cover using Adobe Photoshop. I am still adjusting to the complex features but hopefully after more practice I will learn to use it properly. As I have a mock coming up I will take time off working on my coursework to revise.

PRODUCTION DIARY: WEEK 17

During this week I played around with Photoshop focusing mainly on my double page spread. Looking at older versions and flatplans I am more confident with the finish result. I also looked at other magazines such as VIBE, looking at how they use different conventions to suit their audience and making sure I do the same with my own production.

This week I finished my interview questions, which are question and answers from the artist I will be including in my article for the double page spread. I also took notes on the evaluation questions which will help explain how my product suit my selected target audience.

During this week I continued with my research and planning. I also looked at different flatplans for my front cover, contents page and double page spread to give me more ideas for how I want my final production to look like.

PRODUCTION DIARY: WEEK 13

This week I have created more images that will hopefully be included in my magazine. I have also looked over my plan to be sure how I want my layout to look like and to see if it will suit my target demographic.
In the following weeks to come I will hopefully finish my research and planning completely.

PRODUCTION DIARY: WEEK 12

During this week I have focused on the context of my production, looking closely at the stories I will cover. I need to do more research for the interview of my artist and how I should construct the interview. I also keep looking at my mood board for the inspiration for my double page spread.

During this week I completed my drafts of my front cover and contents page for my magazine. I followed the flatplans made to give me an idea of how to lay out my production to fit with my target demographic. I have continued to make changes with the font and colour scheme to make sure it looks appealing.

PRODUCTION DIARY: WEEK 10

This week I have created a colour scheme and a flatplan for my magazine cover. With these first steps I am pleased with the outcome and can see what needs to be improved. We had a specialists come in during the week to teach us how to use Photoshop, this was helpful as I can now use it to create my magazine cover. We also looked over our mock exam which was helpful to see what needs improving and I took a picture and uploaded it. We also looked at mise-en-scene of different music magazines.

PRODUCTION DIARY: WEEK 9

This week I created a flat plan in my mock for my music magazine with a rough idea on how it will be laid out, I evaluated it and wrote a pitch for the final production, I then began to look at the fonts and colour scheme I will use in my magazine. I also sorted out my work and putting all my work in my folder.

PRODUCTION DIARY: WEEK 8

This week I have looked at magazine analysis looking at conventions, connotations and genres in order to be able to analyse my own magazine. This has been useful as it has made looking at images and texts easier so when it comes to choosing my own it makes the decision clearer and helping to decipher hidden meanings. I have also managed to take a couple pictures for my magazine.

PRODUCTION DIARY: WEEK 7

This week I looked closely at the results from my research and narrowed down what my selected target demographic will be most interested in. From my results I found that the genres I have chosen to focus on are appropriate for my audience and their preferences. I will hopefully capture my images by the end of the week in order to continue the development of my magazine.

During this week the class spent time looking and studying different types of magazines, analysing the front covers, content pages and its content and comparing them to lots of other magazines. We also looked at theories in the media and the Marxists perspective on Print Media. 

PRODUCTION DIARY: WEEK 5

This week I collected and looked at the results from my questionnaire I created for my music magazine. I have come to a final decision for my demographic and content of the magazine. I found using ‘SurveyMonkey’ slightly difficult because in order to collect all results I needed to upgrade the software, so I have to right it out by hand then put it onto Edexcel.

PRODUCTION DIARY: WEEK 4

In our Media class we have begun to look at our main task which is the production of our music magazine. From the research we have taken we’ve had to narrow down our selected target audience and what the readers will be interested in reading. I found out this information from using ‘Survey Monkey’ an online questionnaire service. This software is useful as you can create a variety of questions with a variety of answers, it’s also easy for people to answer questions and easy for me to retrieve data. I’ve also created a Prezi which shows the steps I took in order to create my final production.
